2007 Festival Rules

Seating Logistics

There are plenty of seating options at Pickin’ in the Pines. The lush lawns of Pine Mountain Amphitheater offer plenty of space to spread a tarp or blanket. Built-in stadium-style seats underneath the covered extension of the amphitheater roof are general admission (first-come, first-served) seating. There is a large area in front of the stage where you may use the provided folding chairs. Shade tarps or canopies may only be set up along the back fence of the venue (on the lawn). Please be considerate by not blocking others’ views of the stage. The performers deserve to have a full audience in front of the stage. If you leave your seats unattended, they are available for others to sit in until you return. The areas to the left and right of the stage are designated as dancing areas. Again, please do not obstruct the view of those behind you.

Recording & Photography

You may bring cameras, small camcorders and audio recording devices to Pickin’ in the Pines. No flash photography is permitted. Do not obstruct the view of those behind you with tripods or other equipment. This is a taper-friendly festival. You may not use any type of photograph or recording from Pickin’ in the Pines for commercial purposes without express permission.

Alcohol

No glass containers or alcoholic beverages may be brought into Pine Mountain Amphitheater (PMA), but you may purchase alcohol from vendors in the amphitheater. All coolers, backpacks and bags are subject to search. Beer and wine will be available to individuals 21 and over. You must present an ID at the gate and get a special pass to purchase alcohol.

Food & Beverages

You may bring your own water in factory-sealed containers only. If you bring liquids in re-useable containers, you will be asked to empty them before entering the festival grounds. There are drinking fountains inside the amphitheater, as well as vendors for burgers, hot dogs, sodas, beer, chips, etc.

Vehicles & Parking

There is plenty of free parking available at Pickin' in the Pines. Handicap parking is available only to those with valid, state-issued permits. Premium parking is available adjacent to the Pine Mountain Amphitheater at a cost of $10 per vehicle per day. A free shuttle service will run between the campground, free parking lots and amphitheater during festival hours.

The Weather

This is a “rain or shine event,” so bring your rain gear just in case better safe than sorry! And don’t forget your sunscreen. It can get pretty chilly in the evenings. This time of year it’s best to bring layers. The temperature in Flagstaff is expected to be in the high 70s during the day and into the mid 40s at night.

Animals

We recommend, for the safety and enjoyment of you and your pets, that you not bring them to the festival. No pets are allowed inside Pine Mountain Amphitheater. Friendly pets are allowed in the campground, but must remain on a leash at all times. FFOTM reserves the right to ask you to remove yourself or your animal from the premises, if either of you are affecting the enjoyment of others.

Noise

No loud stereos, ATVs, motorcycles, or fireworks are permitted on festival grounds. If you are caught setting off fireworks, you will be evicted from the site and criminal charges may result. Generators may only be used in the Carnival Lot.  Please be considerate of those around you when using your generator.

Miscellaneous

» Cleared items will be sent to the Lost & Found, so label your stuff.
» You must have a valid wristband to enter the amphitheater.
» Sorry, we cannot replace lost, stolen, or forgotten tickets.

Camping

Above all, please respect your fellow campers.  We’re all here to have fun.  If you’re planning on hosting a raucous, all-night jam and you’re right next to a family that is planning on peace and quiet, you may want to consider camping in another part of the campground.

Campfires are okay , barring any fire restrictions. Campfire rings are available and you may bring your own above-ground fireplace. Wood is available from the fairgrounds camp hosts at $7 for a small wheelbarrow load. Campfires must NOT be left unattended.  Make sure yours is out before leaving the campground or retiring for the evening.

Dogs must be on a leash at all times. If you must bring your pet, make sure it’s restrained and is in a comfortable, safe, and secure location if left unattended. No pets, except service animals, will be allowed in the festival area.

No disorderly conduct will be tolerated. Anyone appearing intoxicated or displaying disruptive behavior will be asked to leave.
