Camping at Pickin’ in the Pines

One of the magical things about a music festival is the community that forms in the campgrounds. You'll find complete strangers getting together and sharing tunes from a standard repertoire, impromptu potluck meals, and all-night jam sessions. There are plenty of opportunities to camp at Pickin’ in the Pines, whether you’re staying in a small tent or a large RV.

All camping areas are a moderate, 1/8- to 1/4-mile walk from the Amphitheater at Ft. Tuthill County Park. There will be a free shuttle service between the campground and the amphitheater running approximately every 15 minutes from one half hour before the main stage opens, until one half hour until the main stage closes. The campgrounds connect to the Flagstaff Urban Trail System (FUTS), where you can hike or bike for miles.

Check-in and Reservations

All campgrounds will open at 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 15, 2011 and will close at 12:00 pm on Monday, September 19, 2011. All camping options are available on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved in advance. We recommend that you arrive early to claim a campsite.

For those choosing to stay in the Family Campground who want to arrive earlier than Thursday or stay past Monday morning, you must make a separate reservation with Coconino County Parks and Recreation by calling 928-679-8000. Call this number ONLY for reservations before Friday, or after Sunday. For general camping questions, please contact Pickin' in the Pines directly as directed below.

Showers

There are no onsite showers, but there are several places in Flagstaff where you can shower for a small fee. Follow this link to a map that locates these businesses.

Option 1 :: The Group Campground :: $20 per adult

If you're looking for good campground pickin', this is the place. Tall pine trees create a rustic “camping in the woods” experience and provide shade during the heat of the day. Several picnic tables, raised BBQ grills, and campfire rings are available to share with your neighbors. This area is perfect for tent camping or for small trailers. This is open camping; individual sites are not designated in this campground. Porta-potties and water are provided. The area along the south fence will be designated as a "quiet area" as it adjoins the Luke AFB camping area.

To reduce congestion and enhance safety, the central area of the Group Campground will be designated "Tents Only" and campers in this area will be asked to move their vehicles a very short distance to the parking area along the Carnival Lot fence. The remainder of the camping area is accessible to vehicles with lengths of 19 feet or less, but we ask those camping in a trailer to move their tow vehicle to the parking area along the Carnival Lot fence after they've set up camp.

Option 2 :: The Family Campground :: $60-70 per site

This campground provides forested camping in individual sites, each with its own picnic table, fire ring, and parking area. A small number of sites with water and sewer hookups are available in this campground for an additional $10 fee **NOTE: Reservations WILL be accepted for hookup sites.**. These campsites range from a few large pull-through RV sites that are spacious and level to smaller terrace sites on a hillside suitable for car camping with a tent. Large RVs may require some adept maneuvering. Most medium-sized RVs should have no problem fitting in, but for easy setup, we recommend the North Campground (Option 3) for larger vehicles.

Each site allows up to 4 adults and 2 vehicles. A tow vehicle and trailer count as two vehicles. Additional adults may camp here at the rate of $20 per person. Additional vehicles will need to be parked outside the campground near the check-in trailer.

Option 3 :: The North Campground :: $20 per person

This area has no designated sites, and is located in the pines just north of the Family Campground. There are no picnic tables or fire rings. Porta-potties are provided and water is close by in the Family Campground. This area is suitable for RVs (any size) and tent campers.

Because of the variety of camping vehicles in this area, we ask that you respect your neighbors and please keep generator usage to a minimum, operating only between the hours of 8-11am and 5-8 pm.

Campground Rules

1.  Above all, please be respectful of your fellow campers.  We're all here to have fun. If you're planning on hosting a raucous all-night jam and you're right next to a family that is hoping for peace and quiet, you may want to consider camping in another part of the campground. Drumming and amplified music are NOT allowed in the campground.

2. On arrival, you will receive a camping armband and a vehicle pass. All vehicles in the campground must have a vehicle pass visibly displayed and all campers must wear a camping wristband at all times. Campground visitors are welcome, but must park outside the camping area near the entrance station.

3.  Campfires are okay, barring any fire restrictions. If there are fire restrictions, you will be notified upon check-in. Campfire rings are available and you may choose to bring your own above-ground fireplace. Campfires must NOT be left unattended. Make sure yours is out before leaving the campground or retiring for the evening.

4. All pets must be on a leash at all times. Pets other than service animals are not allowed in the amphitheater. If you must bring your pet, make sure it is restrained and is in a comfortable, safe, and secure location.

4. Disorderly conduct and/or underage drinking will not be tolerated. Anyone appearing intoxicated or displaying disruptive behavior will be asked to leave.

5. No ATVs, motorcycles or fireworks are permitted on the festival grounds. Please be considerate of those around you when using your generator.
